Walid is a Former Managing Director at The Blackstone Group, Private Equity Group.
Walid has over 20 years’ experience in the private equity industry with a focus on direct private equity and debt investments.
At the Blackstone Group, where Walid was a key member of deal teams that profitably invested a total of over $2 bn of cash equity (with an aggregate transaction value of over $20 bn) in corporate private equity and distressed debt investments, he has reviewed investment opportunities across a broad range of European and Asian markets, with a focus on the TMT sector.
Walid served on the boards of several portfolio companies, both on behalf of Blackstone and in a personal capacity.
From 1996 to 1999, Walid worked at Blackstone’s M&A group in New York, focusing mainly on M+A in the TMT sector.
In addition, Walid was a senior advisor for a major sovereign wealth fund for several years.
More recently, Walid set up a technology investment partnership that focused on later stage technology investments in the US and set up a media business in the UK.
Walid received his B.A. from Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, in 1994 with a dual major in economics and computer science.
